The Three Little Pigs

Written in 1843, the story of The Three Little Pigs is one of the most well-known and beloved stories for preschool and young school children. Although the text has been taken up and adapted, over time, by countless writers, the three characters continue to inspire plays, animated films, role-playing games with educational purposes.

Like all stories, this one begins with once upon a time… a family of piglets. How beautiful was their life! The children, three cheerful brothers played all day in mud puddles, ran and invented all kinds of poems. One day they decided that it was time to find their purpose in life, and their mother advised them to watch out for just one thing: the hungry wolf.

The eldest brother said that first of all they must build a house because the cold is coming. The smallest piglet decided to pick her up from the hay thinking that she would finish quickly and then she would have more time to play. The middle brother built a little house out of twigs, and the eldest brother decided he wanted something even more durable – a brick house with a high roof, windows and a fireplace. While the little pigs danced and sang, the big brother was laying brick upon brick and working hard for his little house.

After a while, a hungry wolf smelled fresh meat and knocked on the straw door. Although the little one did not want to open, the wolf took a breath and blew over the straw and hay, so that the whole house fell down. The pig ran to the middle brother’s house when he saw the destroyed walls and the roof in the wind. But here too the wolf blew hard, and the house of twigs was put to the ground.

Frightened, the brothers then ran to the big pig’s brick house. The wolf tried to blow again, but in vain. The brick house did not move. Then he thought of going down the chimney, but the piglets had already prepared a big surprise for him by lighting the fire and a pot of hot water. What a sting the wolf felt when he landed with his tail in the boiling water!

“I’m definitely not coming back here!” he said and ran off into the woods, leaving the piglets to live a peaceful life.
